You’re probably well aware of the dedicated and charitable work that L.I. Cares has generously provided to the underprivileged living on Long Island. Since its inception in 1980, founded by the Grammy winning songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin, this life-saving organization has supported thousands of our struggling neighbors through its nutritional and public outreach programs. For the past twenty years, Donation Processors Alliance has partnered with L.I. Cares— providing sorely needed funding through its specialized vehicle-donation services.

Our relationship with, and respect for, L.I. Cares runs deep. Supplying food to thousands of Long Islanders on a daily basis is a monumental task. Funding is scarce, and every dollar has to be stretched. DPA President Vern Rasmussen pinpoints why his organization is a difference maker. “DPA has an uncanny ability to make the most out of every vehicle donated to the cause”, he emphasizes. “Experience tells us that there’s greater value hidden in those beat up old clunkers— if you know where to look for it.” So… how do we get the best return from a donated vehicle? Do we scrap it, salvage it, or repair it for sale or auction? DPA often taps into several low-cost repair resources to build equity in a car’s value. Then we weigh our options for the best sales channel— either direct to consumer, through auction services or even online. Our knack for quickly turning useless wrecks into usable checks allows us to maximize the efforts of L.I. Cares. And that makes all the difference.

Our appreciation for the generosity of donors is boundless. That’s why we bend over backward to streamline the process for you, retrieve the biggest tax deduction we can get, and keep a dialogue ongoing throughout the transaction. Our dedicated team handles all the paperwork, vehicle transport, storage, and sales with skill and efficiency. We’ve made a lot of close associations and great friendships over the years. And now you can learn, first hand, about the work we do, and how easy it is to donate your unused and unwanted vehicle.

Our new program is called “Wheels for Meals”, and our newly launched and custom-branded website has all the details… and lots more. Follow our simple four-step process for contributing your old clunker to a cause that continues to fight an escalating battle against hunger in our midst. Learn about the strides L.I. Cares continues to make, and how the face of hunger now includes many of our once-middle-class citizens. Understand the tax benefits and ramifications of vehicle donation, learn how your generosity will directly translate into food on the table; and read some heart-warming stories of friends and neighbors who have felt the need… and extended a helping hand. All your questions will be answered thanks to this very informative, entertaining and easy-to-navigate resource. Check it out. And, while you’re visiting, consider joining our gallery of honored donors one day with your own donation.
