Here’s how “Wheels for Meals” works.

Donation Processors Alliance (DPA) has mapped out an easy, streamlined route for disposing of that old clunker in your driveway… helping the underprivileged of Long Island… and picking up a hefty tax deduction in the process

Donate your unwanted car, SUV, truck, van or motorcycle— and DPA promises that your generosity will not only give you a warm feeling, but will also generate the most “bang for the buck” in terms of fundraising and some welcomed tax relief.

How Easy Is It To Donate?

First Gear

Just call 877-872-2127, or click on
“Donate your Car”
and fill out a brief, online form.

Second Gear

We’ll contact you within 24 hours to schedule an appointment for a FREE, “no-hassle” pick up of your vehicle at your convenience.

Third Gear

We take care of the paperwork and the “sell or salvage” details. Then we arrange for the maximum tax deduction for your vehicle ($500 or more), and mail your tax donation receipt.

Forth Gear

Every vehicle donated creates about 100 meals. Our work helps L.I. Cares feed hungry families… you feel good about your donation… and the IRS contributes its part too.

Who Is Long Island Cares?

The “Wheels for Meals” Program promotes a singularly focused initiative. Simply put, our aim is to eliminate hunger on Long Island. Naturally, it takes funding to drive a large not-for-profit like L.I. Cares. So… what better approach is there than an honest plea for vehicle donation to secure desperately needed capital, keep the food pantries stocked, and recognize donor generosity with a win-win opportunity. DPA has developed a real aptitude for opening doors and closing deals quickly and efficiently. That translates into more money, and conversely, better access to food for those Long Islanders who really depend on the services provided by L.I. Cares. It’s a small gesture that pays big dividends, so take the next step…

“Trade in the clunker… and drive out the hunger”.

Our Vision: a hunger-free Long Island.

Founded by the late Harry Chapin, Long Island Cares brings together all available resources for the benefit of the hungry
on Long Island, and provides to the best of our ability for the humanitarian needs of our community.
We provide food when and where it’s needed, while promoting self-sufficiency and public education.

What Have We Been Doing Lately?
